Manatee Watching

V!VA User‘s Description

Belize is one of the best places to find these massive, lovable, but timid "sea cow" creatures, but even then you don't get to see much of them. They are more numerous in the Southern Lagoon at Gales Point, but if you cannot get down there, then this trip gives you a chance to glimpse one in its natural environment. They are well protected in Belize, so you cannot snorkel with them and seeing them pop up on the surface is interesting, but not of the most exciting animal watching experiences you will have. After searching for manatees, you get the rest of the day to sunbathe and snorkel at a couple of good reef sites.
