In the heart of San Ignacio the Central ‘Otel is always popular with backpackers due to its cheap rates and extremely convenient location—only a block away from the bus station, or more accurately, the side of the road where buses stop, and within strolling distance of everything you’ll need in this small town. The rooms are a little basic but offer good value as they are clean, have electric fans and windows. While this is a plus in the warm Belizean climate, note that the room at the front can get noisy on the weekends. All the rooms share two communal bathrooms.

The hotel is located on the second floor, just up a small staircase next to the popular gringo hangout, Eva’s. The owners are usually found on the balcony which has a hammock and is a perfect place for relaxing after a hike, reading or just watching people pass in the street below.
