Diving
V!VA User‘s Description
There are various opportunities to explore the reef out from Placencia and in general, the further out you go, the better it is. The inner reef trip to Laughing Bird Caye may be popular, but much of the coral is dead there, although it does provide the chance to see many juvenile fish and possibly seahorses. The outer reef has more vibrant coral and the opportunity to spot different varieties of rays. Silk Caye, a beautiful tiny island on the outer fringes of the reef, takes about an hour to get to, but it is circled by truly impressive coral with a host of reef fish as well as nurse sharks, turtles and lobsters.
