Cafe Rico

Location:
100m south of (or one block behind) El Parquecito beach.
Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica

Restaurant Types:
Café

By Ruth Bell

Tucked away behind El Parquecito, this lovely café is surrounded by tropical plants and full of atmosphere. You'll feel instantly welcome going into the open, wooden café to order your (highly recommended) breakfast plate and freshly brewed coffee. Most popular is the "Ana Rosa," a special that includes potatoes, eggs, cheese, bacon and avocado ($5).  Accommodation, book exchange, surf and bike rental and laundry services are also on offer. Look out for tropical frogs in the garden and the sloth, who occasionally naps in the tree outside.

Open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., but closed on Wednesdays.
