Restaurant Miriam I

This cozy place filled with square wooden tables is beside the beach (although with limited views) and offers the usual food found in most restaurants in town. It packs in the people for popular dishes like coconut chicken and fresh fish and there is plenty of atmosphere as many of the diners come from the restaurant's associated hostels.

Best dinner of Tortuguero

The best place to eat in Tortuguero. Wonderful food and great service. While I was there, the staff cooked up some snook I had caught in the river for me and did a fantastic job. Also when I needed medical help, they called the doctor for me and Cathy translated for me with the Spanish speaking doctor. Great people who have created a wonderful restaurant. The rooms, which can be had with a huge breakfast for only $20, are a great deal.

What a history!

Miss Miriam's history is as good as her food! She is a pioneer in the rain forest and used to send here grocery list out to the Caribbean boats by "note in bottle". The food is worthy of the history and the coconut chicken is authentic Jamaican, not the crispy version outside of Costa Rica.

A "Don't Miss" Dinner

The food! Miss Miriam's coconut chicken is undoubtedly the best thing we ate in Costa Rica, but her breakfasts are nothing to sneeze at either. Miss Miraim's daughter, Cathy, provides friendly service and the prices are very reasonable.
