Getting around Puerto Viejo

Getting around Puerto Viejo on foot is easy. Renting a bike can make it easier and more fun. You may want a bike if you’re going from the center of town to the beaches of Playa Cocles, Playa Chiquita and Punta Uva, where many hotels and restaurants are located. Rent cars from Los Almendros in the center or  Lindos Tours on the main street for around $50 a day. Alternatively, look at www.poasrentacar.com or www.discoverycarrental.net. Taxis, both official and pirate, lurk around the bus stop and in front of Sunrise on the main street. Both are known to be fairly safe, but you can always ask your hotel to call a cab. Below are some cab numbers to keep handy just in case.
• Bull, 2750-0112 Cell: 8836 8219
• Luis 8838-3981
• Delroy, 2750-0132--cel
• Rene 8879-5033
• Juni has a van—8824-4671
• Adolfo in BriBri has a big bus 2756 0059 or 8389-0032
