Choosing which tour company to use can be difficult, especially seeing as there are so many new ones popping up. The most popular by far is also the town's tourist information center, ATEC, (Ecotourism and Conservation Association for Talamanca). They support locally owned businesses, associations and families with the aim of promoting conservation through education. Tour operators offer a wide range of activities, from cultural experiences, adventure activities, overnight trips and wildlife tours. Quite often they will also be able to book transport for you and rent cars. Most hotels arrange tours but may charge extra for the service. Tours may need to be booked at least one day in advance, and some have requirements of a minimum number of people. If on a tight budget, remember many activities can be done using public transport and a little investigation.
