If you really want to maximize your chances of seeing the volcano spewing lava then splash out and book into this place. Hidden away on top of a mountain at the end of a bumpy dirt road, this big resort is well set out and most rooms have volcano views. There is a swimming pool and jacuzzi, a volcano viewing deck, seismograph and museum as well as an expensive restaurant, which is the only option because the place is so remote. But the best thing about staying here is you can get up at 4am, when the volcano is most often clear of cloud, and if you are lucky you can see the lava flow.
