Climate

Bordered by two oceans and not too far from the equator, Costa Rica experiences a tropical climate with a rainy and dry season. Depending on the Caribbean or Pacific side, the wet season runs from January to May, and the dry season runs from May to December with slight differences. The weather is fairly constant throughout the region due to its proximity to equator and enjoys temperatures between 70 and 80° F. Similar to the United States, the cooler months are November to January, the warmer being March through May. The country also deals with what the locals call ¨alisios¨or trade winds that blow intensely between December and April from north to east. Every two to seven years, the El Niño may cause some major changes to the country, such as its weather patterns and animal life.
