Responsible Tourism

Being a mega-diverse country means that Costa Rica is home to a large number of the world’s plant and animal species. The tropical country has more than 25 National Parks that help protect and promote conservation of these lands and its inhabitants. Costa Rica also has other biological reserves as well as protected areas within its borders. It has more land under protection than any other country in the world. As part of a growing trend, Costa Rica has helped pioneer a new form of travel known as ecotourism, which is a responsible way to travel a country without leaving any footprints behind.

Responsible tourism combines travel and education, in part to help spread the knowledge of the country and its nature without hindering the natural environment. In a way, it could also be called respectful tourism because you are not doing anything that could harm the culture and environment of the country you are visiting.

In Costa Rica, responsible tourism has become an integral force in their economy. For more than 12 years, Ecole Travel has helped visitors see Costa Rica responsibly. It offers one-day and multi-day tours to all of the best spots in the country. The Tierra Viva Travel Company offers eco-tours to the southern areas of Ecuador. Other companies to keep in mind include Nuevo Mundo Expeditions, Peidra Blanca and Ecuador Ethnogastronomic. There also is an abundance of ecolodges that you can stay in during your trip.
