Golfo Dulce and the Osa Peninsula Things to See and Do

follow us

The Osa Peninsula is a place for people who love the outdoors and off-the-beaten-track travel. You will find that the activities in this region do not vary much from town to town and primarily involve hiking or boating. Common things to do include surfing, mangrove kayaking, dolphin and whale watching, bird watching, wildlife watching, rainforest hikes and treks, horseback riding, sport fishing and diving and snorkeling.

Of course different areas or towns are better for different things. Pavones, for instance, is definitely the top surf spot, Drake Bay is best for whale watching, and Isla del Coco is best for scuba diving. Rincon, Drake Bay and Sierpe are the prime areas for mangrove kayaking. Carate, Puerto Jimenez and Drake Bay are best for access to treks and other activities in Corcovado National Park. In general, however, it is possible to access any of the standard activities from wherever you are. The Osa is an ideal place for active travelers, but it is just as possible to take things easy in a resort.
