Fundacion Neotropica - Hotel Puerto Jimenez - Costa Rica

This is primarily a learning center for student groups, but it also rents 14 dorm-style cabins to the public with bunk beds, private bathrooms, and some include a more spacious deck / living room area. Prices are per room. A single room is $27, $35 for a double and $42 for a quadruple. It's $10 extra for air conditioning. Meals can be purchased for $5(breakfast) - $8(lunch, dinner). The Fundacion is right on the edge of the Golfo Dulce reserve, giving you prime access to jungle exploration. It provides several different ecotourism packages that last from 4-12 days and focus on different activities such as birdwatching, kayaking or agro-ecology, as well as simple tours, like a $10 tour to Corcovado. The Fundacion also offers a 2-week volunteer program that includes lodging, transport and food. The Neotropica center has a small library with novels in English and Spanish, in addition to scientific resources, and a computer with internet that guests can use. There is a cafe on the premises where cheap meals can be purchased, and the center offers laundry service as well.
