Boat Tours of Golfo Dulce - Boating Puerto Jimenez - Costa Rica

The Golfo Dulce is one of the most important fjords and one of the deepest gulfs in the world. Most tour companies in Puerto Jimenez offer boat tours of the gulf, which is also home to large numbers of dolphins and a stop on the annual migration path of humpback whales that come here to breed. Many tours, therefore, focus just on dolphin and whale watching. Whale sharks can also be spotted in April and May. The gulf gives way to mangrove forests on one side, and boat, or more commonly kayak, tours can be arranged to explore these as well.

Kayak tours cost around $35 per person for three hours of kayaking. Cafenet El Sol has combination mangrove and dolphin kayak tours, $50 per person for five hours. Five to six hour motorboat tours cost between $55 and $75 depending on the number of passengers.
