Montezuma generally has a safe reputation, but you should still take precautions. Don’t leave anything (valuable or not) in your car and don’t or unattended at the beach. If you’re on the beach after dark, stay in well lit populated areas.

The coastline in Montezuma is prone to riptides so it’s important to inquire daily about water conditions before attempting a swim. Be especially careful when swimming around the rocky headlands, they can continue underwater around the area.
