Safety

This sleepy little town is not known for crime, though you should always be careful. Beaches here are a popular spot for star gazing, a nice change from more populated beach towns that are considered unsafe at night. Be sensible though; don’t take your valuables and if you’re alone, don’t head to desolate, unlit areas. Another safety concern is swimming. The waves here are unpredictable and prone toward rip tides, though the locals will claim differently. Instead of risking it, head north a bit to Playa Blanca, a five-minute walk up the beach, where the waves are considerably safer.
