When to Go

Santa Cruz experiences a year-round tropical climate, though obviously it gets just as rainy here from September to November as it does in the rest of the Guanacaste. In June, the town celebrates the festival of Santo Cristo de Esquipulas, when the city morphs in to one big street party. The same thing happens on July 25, when Día de Guanacaste is celebrated. There are rodeos all year long, so keep an eye out for posters advertising them when you’re in town.
