Agujitas is a small, close-knit community where crimes are slim. A greater risk is getting lost or injured walking alone at night, so keep a flashlight handy. Also try to stay conscious of the tides, and beware strong ocean currents. Some venomous snakes, such as the deadly fer-de-lance, live in this area but are not frequently encountered.
