Vista Drake is a sophisticated tent camp with all the amenities of a regular hotel – fans, lights, mattresses, bathroom facilities and purified water -- as well as a great view. The camp is conveniently located across from the Parque de los Jaguares where buses arrive and depart from Puerto Jimenez. Tents are set on raised wooden platforms on top of plastic linings, with king, matrimonial or twin beds inside. A tent runs $10 in low season, $15 in high ($20 if you want breakfast), and it’s only $5 a night if you bring your own tent. Vista Drake was also planning to add three cabinas in 2009 – two with private bath – for the same $15 a night. The lodgings are closed from September to October.
