Although it is not one of the more popular tourist destinations on the Osa Peninsula, Golfito offers essentially the same activities as any other place around, including mangrove tours, dolphin and whale watching, sport fishing and rain forest hikes. From here it is easy to get to Zancudo, Pavones, Puerto Jimenez and Piedras Blancas National Park, whether you are interested in one-day tours or longer stays. The city is also close to several beaches, such as Playa Cacao, that make good day-trip destinations. A botanical orchid garden, Casa Orquideas, is located on nearby San Josecito beach. Two activities unique to Golfito are the Golfito Wildlife Reserve and the Depositivo Libre shopping complex.
