In Jimenez, tours and activities are essentially the same thing. People use this city as a home base to explore the natural wonders surrounding it. In the immediate vicinity you have the Golfo Dulce, great for dolphin and whale watching, snorkeling, swimming or fishing, and the mangroves, which make for some nice kayaking adventures and wildlife observation. There are also the Herrera Gardens, which are a good place for nature walks. Near Jimenez you also have Corcovado National Park and the Golfo Dulce Forest Reserve. This is what many people come to Jimenez to experience – these two places are optimum for jungle hikes and spotting amazing animals. Neighboring Dos Brazos, which experienced a gold rush during the 1970s, is also of interest to some visitors. A few people still try to make a living off of small-scale mining operations here, and tourists are invited to try their own hand at panning.
