San José is the largest city in Costa Rica. Among its attractions is the 19th century Teatro Nacional, one of the finest in all of Latin America, modeled after the Paris Opera House. Also worth exploring is the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design, the Central Bank Museum, with its large collection of Pre-Colombian gold, the archeologically rich Jade Museum, and the Metropolitan Cathedral. San José also features a number of shopping malls and night spots, especially in Tournón neighborhood's El Pueblo, featuring over 50 bars, dance clubs, restaurants, and art galleries.
