Sitting within the stunning Paquare river valley on the border of the Chirripo Indian Reservation (Reserva Indigena Chirripo), Moravia del Chirripo can be described as a true off the beaten path treasure. Besides a handful of haciendas, rural getaway accommodations, and ongoing ecotourism projects, Moravia del Chirripo is far removed from everyday modern society. The valley is absolutely breathtaking, leaving one in the pure solitude of clean air, and the possibility of numerous hiking trails and camping within close proximity. The Chirripo Indian Reservation is quite extensive, and is dotted with inhabitants within the rich gorgeous valley. It is necessary to receive a permit to enter much of this land, check with an information center. The roads are rough leading into Moravia del Chirripo, leaving this little known destination undeveloped for the most part for tourism.
