Memorial Ernesto “Che” Guevara - Monument Havana - Cuba

Directly opposite the memorial to Jose Marti is the memorial to Che Guevara. Che’s timeless face looms over the concrete plaza, from the Ministry of the Interior. The memorial consists of a black metallic frame, outlining Che’s famous profile. The photograph from which this memorial was taken was captured by Alberto “Korda” Guttierez in 1960. In Cuba, especially in Havana, this photo is now widely found on postcards for sale, seemingly on every corner. The photograph did not become famous until long after Guevara had left Cuba.
