Located 5km west of Viñales village, this mural was painted in the 1960s by the artist Leovigilda Gonzalez and commissioned by Fidel Castro. To say that Gonzalez painted it is something of a fabrication. Instead, he directed the locals who painted it. The mural is painted across the bare face of one of the mogotes and features early humans alongside dinosaurs. The idea is to represent evolution. This lurid mural, painted mainly in blue and red is around 300 feet wide and 200 feet high. There is also a museum and small restaurant at the site. The Viñales bus tour stops here.
