El Salvador Hotels

In El Salvador, accommodation is more expensive than in neighboring countries, but a room won't cost you an arm and a leg. The dry season, from November to April, is the best time to go. Less rain means the roads will be in better condition, and you won't get soaked every day. More festivals take place, too. However, if the rain won't make you melt, the beaches are less crowded and you can get accommodation at even lower prices during the wet season.

El Salvador Budget Hotels and El Salvador Hostels

Cheap El Salvador hostels can be found in San Salvador, and any other well populated areas. Hostels are usually called “hotels” or “guest houses,” so don't be fooled by the sign and venture in to check the place out. The best place to look for a place to stay is usually around well-known tourist areas or bus stations, but be careful if you are traveling alone. A room at a dorm at most El Salvador hostels will range between $15 and $20 per night, and at the very least you can expect clean sheets and hot water.

If you want privacy, less noise, and the guarantee of hot water, you'll have to pay a bit more. El Salvador budget hotels are usually more well-maintained and cleanly than hostels, and most have in-room TVs and basic room service. Basic rooms at El Salvador budget hotels usually range in price from $50 to $80 per night. Well-known chains like Comfort Inn can also be found, but are in general not up-to-par with their U.S. counterparts, especially since they come with an American price tag.

El Salvador Luxury Hotels and El Salvador Resorts

El Salvador's beaches are quickly becoming hot spots for surfers, and the hotel industry is catching on. El Salvador resorts remain few and far between, but if you search hard enough you can find everything from beach bungalows to boutique resorts with world-class spas, restaurants and surf clubs. When researching the right place to stay amongst El Salvador resorts, try to take into account the closest airport, as well as what kinds of activities are available on-site.

El Salvador luxury hotels are popping up in major tourist areas, mostly in San Salvador. Here, you can find four and five-star accommodations for between $90 and $140 a night. Most of the El Salvador luxury hotels are familiar brands from the United States, such as Hilton and Sheraton. These hotels are usually just as modern as the same names in the U.S., and most have on-the-premise restaurants and bars, as well as bi-lingual staff who can help answer any questions you may have.

El Salvador Camping and other El Salvador Accommodation

El Salvador camping spots that are designated are virtually non-existent. If you are off the beaten track, you can put up a tent just about anywhere, but you'll probably want to ask the local police or nearest landowner if it's okay – just in case. It's also a good idea to have an El Salvador camping guide with you, or at the very least never stay out in the wilderness (even on the beach) alone.

Other El Salvador accommodation options include renting out one of the numerous haciendas, or converted homes, that can be found across the country. Options include everything from staying in a private room in a family home with a private bath, to renting out an entire house for a family or other group. Shop around for the right El Salvador accommodation that suits you or your groups needs, and if you do not make reservations in advance it is always a good idea to ask to see the room(s) you are renting before committing.
