This is possibly the best artisan market in Central America, so get out plenty of Quetzals and prepare to bargain hard. The small town, two-and-a-half hours drive from Antigua, comes alive two days per week when the cobbled streets surrounding the ornate church fill with traditionally-clothed natives selling ornate masks, weaved hammocks, clothing and cloths, jewellery, you name it. Head back to Antigua at 14:00 or combine the trip with transport out to Lake Atitlan, which is only 45 minutes away by shuttle bus.
