An impressive archway front to this ruin, in which painted statues depict religious scenes, hides a large courtyard inside with neatly manicured gardens. The convent was founded in 1699 by six nuns, but the first building was totally destroyed by an earthquake in 1717. The present building was built in 1734 and was partially destroyed in the 1773 earthquake.
