Don´t be put off by the drab exterior, Casa del Tejido is a must-see for shoppers who want to understand what the designs on their Mayan textiles signify. The unhurried, personal 20 minute tour in English (or Spanish) opens the door into the symbolism, methods and purpose of Mayan weaving/embroidery in local culture today. An excellent range of textiles, traditional clothes and handicrafts are on sale, all handmade by co-operatives throughout the Guatemalan Highlands. Discounts for cash.
