This is one of the few places where you can choose a place on the basis that it “felt right” and no-one will blink twice. The choice is astounding. Chakra balancing, crystal healing, shiatsu, past-life regression, emotional freedom technique, reiki, acupuncture, Indian Head Massage, the list goes on. At any one time, there are at least 10 centers or private therapists working in San Marcos. Depending on the treatment, prices start from $25 for an hour.

Generally, the centers are small with no reception staff. If you know what you want, fill your name in on the whiteboard. Alternatively look for gaps in the schedule to find out when you can come back to glean more information. Most places do not take reservations for treatments from outside the village. Courses, on the other hand, run according to interest and are better (and cheaper) with at least two people, so advance notice is advised.
