Tecpán itself should not take up too much space on your intinery. Its value for tourists lies in the nearby ruins of Iximché. The town itself is quite non-descript. There are plenty of shops on the busy high street, an unkempt square with some stalls and a large white church. It has a friendly-enough feel and if you do need to stay over there are a few options for a meal and a bed.

The town has all the services you would usually need. There is an Internet café next to the Hotel Iximché, open 8a.m. – 9.30p.m. (Closed 1.30p.m. – 2.30p.m. for lunch) and charging Q6/hour. On the opposite side of the square to the church there is a BAM with an ATM and a Banrural which will exchange money. Close by is a shopping center, of sorts, with Cine Plaza Tecpán, Café Deli, Pasteleria Fina, Sarita Helados and medical and dentist clinics.
