active volcano, tour, horse

One of the things you have to do when you are in Antigua is climb an active volcano. There are two volcanoes near town, but only Pacaya is safe enough to climb. You are well-advised to get a tour, as guides will know the safest way up the volcano and will ward off muggers. Many agencies offer trips to Pacaya, so it won’t be a problem getting your tour, though it would be smart to check out several places, as the prices can vary. If you want to make the climb on horseback you can get this “taxi”, as the locals call them, on the beginning of the climb. Make sure you bargain, because every man and horse have their own price.
