Getting Around Guatemala

Most travelers get around Guatemala by bus. Distances between destinations are generally short, which is good, because you’re likely to be crammed in. For those who want to travel in a bit more comfort and are willing to pay more, shuttle buses operate between most of Guatemala's main traveler destinations. Long trips, such as the bus ride from Guatemala City to Flores and Tikal, can be time-consuming and uncomfortable, so you may want to shell out for a flight, instead. If you wish to see the country a bit more closely, and you have time to spare, mountain biking across Guatemala can be enjoyable. Train travel is currently not an option in Guatemala.
