Jardín Botánico - Other Activity Guatemala City - Guatemala

El Jardin Botanico de Guatemala was opened in 1922 and is home to multiple collections of both regional and international plant species. Nearly extinct varieties are carefully preserved here and there is an extensive collection of dried plants, used for research and study. They have also managed to recreate a number of habitats, including the wetlands where orchids and the national flower ‘The Monja Blanca’ are cultivated. Guatemala’s botanical garden regularly collaborates with other botanical institutions around the world to try and conserve rare and endangered plant species.
