Museo Nacional De Historia - Museum Guatemala City - Guatemala

The personal belongings of former presidents and some of Guatemala’s leading figures are some of the more unusual items at this fascinating museum. Visitors here will also find numerous objects and furniture from around 1821 when the country finally achieved independence from Spain. Opened in 1896, the Museo Nacional de Historia is also home to one of Guatemala’s largest photo libraries. The building itself features stunning Renaissance style architecture and has been used as the headquarters of numerous institutions and organizations over the years. Guided tours are available.
