Parque Centenario - City Park Guatemala City - Guatemala

Parque Centenario is where the old National Palace once stood and where Guatemala’s government used to convene. It is here that Central America’s independence from Spain was signed in 1821. The park has now been renovated, but retains an old theatre like structure with great acoustics where free art exhibitions and music concerts frequently take place. It is located at 6th Avenue and 6th Street next to the Plaza de la Constitucion and is well worth a visit. The park is considered a great asset to the city but it is not recommended to visit the area after dark.
