The Tipografia Nacional was founded in 1894 for the purpose of producing and printing official texts and educational materials. Several earthquakes destroyed the original site and the organization was eventually moved to its current location. The new building, featuring neo-colonial architecture was completed in 1943. The in-house museum displays the evolution of typography machinery from the 19th century to today’s more modern technology.
