Getting Around

There is plenty of public transportation to take you around Guatemala City, however, it is important to remember that petty thieves and pickpockets target commuters and visitors using the busy public transport networks. Be careful of your belongings and stay vigilant.

Getting around by bus will cost you roughly $0.12 between 5a.m. and 6p.m. and then increases to $0.24 a trip at night time. Transmetro and Transurbano are convenient ways of getting around the city, cost $0.12 a trip and usually have police officers stationed on them.

There are also plenty of white taxis, for somewhere between $3.75 and $12.50 depending on how far you are going. If you are not happy to take the white taxis than ‘Corporacion Amarillo’ is a recommended yellow cab company that you can call on 1766. There are several car rental companies as well if you are willing to take on driving and parking in Guatemala City. (Budget, Tel: 23327744 and Tally, Tel: 22612526)
