When To Go

Guatemala has two tourist high seasons; the first is from July to August, and the second is between November and April. For years, the country has been known as "The Land of Eternal Spring" due to its pleasant climate and almost constant average temperature of 21┬░C during the day and around 15┬░C at night.

The rainy season lasts from May to October while March and April are generally considered as summer, as temperatures around this time can reach up to 40┬░C in parts.

If you want to experience Guatemalan culture at its best, than festival time is definitely the time to go. Easter week, Christmas, the day of the Virgin of the Assumption on August 15th and New Years are all great times to visit. There are also more modern festivals and holidays such as the annual film festival Icaro Central held in November. Check out what is happening before you go: communities and towns hold various celebrations throughout the year.
