Accommodation Summary

Most tourists to Iztapa are gunning for sailfish and stay at exclusive lodges near the Puerto Quetzal marina, a two hour drive from Guatemala City. The standard three day, four night package includes three nights at the lodge, a fourth night in Guatemala City, transport to and from Guatemala City, all meals and three full days of fishing and usually cost about $2,500. Tours of popular sites in Guatemala are available for those not so keen on reeling in a 90-pounder.

As standard, the lodges also have swimming pools, a Jacuzzi and a bar for some chilling out time. A deposit of up to 50% is required. Tips, alcoholic drinks, equipment rental and laundry are not usually included in the package price. All the lodges employ security personal. Peak times of the year are over Christmas and Easter when the lodges fill up sometimes as much as a year in advance.
