Finca El Patrocinio - Other Activity Retalhuleu - Guatemala

The 140 hectare (345 ac.) Patrocinio Reserve includes a variety of different habitats and is dedicated to conservation and restoration of the natural environment. The reserve is also involved in agrotourism, working with and supporting a local community of 10 families. Visitors can engage in some birdwatching from the trails or the observation tower, hiking or re-connecting with nature. A variety of tours are available, including ziplining, mountain biking and a general tour of the area.

Accommodation is in one of three rooms, with private bathroom in the comfortable lodge. The finca can be reached by a combination of walking and the Comunidad Alianza bus, pick-ups or hitching. Otherwise take a taxi from Reu.

Any stays or tours should be booked a few days in advance.

$100 per person in double room with private bathroom (includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the use of the observation tower, zipline, trails, guiding).

Camping $5, individual meals from $9 to $12.

Ziplining $15, Birdwatching $10 (trails + tower, half a day), Tour of plantation $6 + $10 per group for guide.Payments in quetzals or US dollars.
