Located in a colonial house on the central park, the small museum holds some interesting artwork and pottery. Rooms are divided into time periods such as pre-classic, classic and post-classic to enable easy comparisons, while the upstairs floor is dedicated to Retalhuleu and the surrounding area. This includes a section on the local soccer team and a map of historically significant places. Sometimes music events are held on the grounds in the evenings. This museum is worth a look but it will probably only take half an hour at most.
Opening hours are 8.30am to 12.30pm, 2pm to 5pm, Tuesdays to Saturdays, 9 am to 12.30pm Sunday.
