There are two options to see this beautiful volcano surrounded lake, either by taking an organised day tour or by using the ferry launches. You will not have time to see the place in a day using the ferries so it is advisable to do a tour, which usually costs around Q80 ($10.50) and goes to San Antonio, Santiago de Atitlan and San Pablo. With more time take the ferries, which cost Q20p/p ($2.60) each way, although you can often bargain down.
Departures can be tricky to work out but a good plan is to head to San Pedro for the first night, spend the day around there then take a launch to San Marcos for the next night, take in the amazing views of the lake and volcanoes there then take an early launch past all the bays back to Panajachel and one out to Santiago the next day, either returning for the 16:00 shuttle back to Antigua or staying one night in Santiago.
