V!VA User‘s Description
Set amid stunning volcanic scenery and the expansive shores of Lago Atitlan, this unassuming town offers a few wonders of its own, which may explain why so many travelers come for a few days and end up staying a couple of months. A growing ex-pat population dominates the scene, but the friendly locals are also known to make an appearance for a drink or two once the sun goes down. The beauty of the physical surroundings is matched by cheap accommodation and a surprising number of excellent bars and restaurants, making this humble town a hot spot on the travel circuit.
