Historical Building

V!VA User‘s Description

This place looks like nothing from the outside and although good for a ruins aficionado it is not worth the fee if you only have a passing interest. Founded by five Spanish nuns the building was completed in 1736 and consists of a circle of 18 small stone rooms, or cells, set behind a bland-looking church.

Traveler Reviews of Las Capuchinas

Well Worth the Admission!

Rating: 100%

Viewing the eighteen cells and tower was both eerie and mind-boggling. To think of how some people chose, or were perhaps forced to leave is hard to grasp. I kept wondering, what did this architect have in mind? What was he thinking when he designed these eighteen cells? And check out the two communal bathtubs! The grounds are not huge, or nearly as big as others such as Santa Clara, but very pretty.
