If you are used to flash hotels and plush suites then that is not what you’re going to get in El Estor. Hostels tend to be a little rough around the edges because the tourist scene has been quiet in this remote part of Guatemala. The accommodation available is decidedly the budget to mid-range level, but there are some nice El Estor hostels with lake views or pretty gardens, so it is worth looking around before you settle.
