Río Dulce is a busy town and the through-road over the bridge to the north is always chocked with traffic. It is wise to be careful around here, as the trucks steam through, and especially at night. There is quite a contrast between the poor working town and the fancy hotels and the expensive boats in the marina owned by expats or rich city Guatemalecos, so you should be careful not to flash expensive belongings when you’re in the main drag.
