There are several options to reach Livingston, all of them by water. Ferries leave the Muelle Municipal in Puerto Barrios and travel across the bay to Livingston at 10a.m. and 5p.m. from Monday to Saturday. It is also possible to take a smaller boat, which depart once they have enough people aboard. These smaller boats, called lanchas, take about half the time as the ferry (30 minutes), but are twice as expensive. International boats also leave Honduras and Belize, most notably from Punta Gorda, Belize on Tuesdays and Fridays. To leave from Belize, you will have to pay a departure tax at the immigration office on the dock. Make sure to check in with immigration if you arrive from another country.
