Upriver from Livingston there is a place where very hot sulphurous water flows into the RÃo Dulce. The public boats going between RÃo Dulce and Livingston normally stop here for 10 minutes or so; you can dip your toes in the water where a jetty and café have been built. After passing through the narrow gorge the river opens into El Golfete, a large lake with various points of interest on its shores. On the north side is the Biotopo Chocópn Machacas, a reserve conceived to protect the Manatee (sea cow) as well as the wetlands. Located on the southern bank is the Casa Guatemala charity orphanage, www.casa-guatemala.org, linked to Hotel Backpackers in RÃo Dulce
