Getting there and away
From Flores ($3.50, 2 hours, 100 km), minibuses leave the terminal of Santa Elena every hour between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m. To Flores, minibuses leave the border every hour. On the Belize side, taxis run between the border and the next town Benque Viejo del Carmen, where you can catch a bus for Belize City between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. ($4, 3 hours) Most travelers take a shuttle from Flores directly to Belize City ($20).
