Getting To And Away

To get to El PerĂș (Waka') site, go to the Parque Nacional Laguna del Tigre, situated 62km (38.5 miles) northwest of Flores. Take the road heading to the village of Paso Caballos, it is a 2-hours ride. From there you will have to take a motorboat up the RĂo Sacluc for 20min.

To go to RĂo Azul, coming from UaxactĂșn, you can take the 95km-long (59 miles) road (five-hours drive) that links both sites. Public transportation though does not exist in this remote region, so unless you have a vehicle, you will have to walk or horseback (four-days trip) or book a tour, departing from Flores, UaxactĂșn and el Remate.

Although tours offering trekking, jeep and horse trips exist (leaving from Flores and El Remate), you can take the road to El Zotz by yourself: it is a 30km (18.6 miles) (five-hours) trek from Cruce Dos Aguadas.

Due to its remote location, it is always adviced to get a guided visit for Piedras Negras: once again, you will find tour agencies in Flores, Guatemala City and San Andrés.

The easiest way to get to YaxchilĂĄn is starting from Bethel, where you can find tours
